Kiwi Tomuri (pollinator for Hayward) - On a bamboo stake in a 5 L pot
Pollinator for Hayward plants

Note: Tomuri is a pollinator! It does not develop  fruits, it only provides pollen for fertilisation; the female organs in Tomuri's flowers only stunted (see picture).

Growth/health: Medium strong, healthy growth
Care: Prune as little as possible in the early years; only when the pollinator plant has begun to bloom, then it can be kept somewhat smaller
Botanical name: Actinidia chinensis / deliciosa

The best and the most reliable: the classic kiwi dream couple
The feedback from our customers shows again and again that the classic kiwi couple Hayward and Tomuri works the best. Although the start of harvest may take a long time, there is a regular yield afterwards; every year there are large fruits, in an absolutely premium quality, definitely much better than the immature harvested kiwis from overseas. So if you want quality and want to play it safe, plant the classic couple! By the way: thanks to the elaborate propagation by cuttings, our kiwis now start to bear fruit even earlier (after two to four years).

The pollination conditions for Hayward and Tomuri
Hayward, in contrast to what is sometimes said, has well-developed male and female organs. Only this variety, like so many other fruit species, is non-self-fertile, which means it cannot be fertilised by its own pollen. It needs to be fertilised by a pollinator and the most ideally suited variety is Tomuri, with purely male flowers.
